PRAGUE – The Czech Battery Cluster (CBC), in cooperation with the REMA Battery collective system and the Kocián Šolc Balaštík (KŠB) legal office, organized a specialized seminar on the “Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on Batteries and Waste Batteries 2023” for its members. The new regulation represents a comprehensive EU-wide legislative regulation affecting the entire life cycle of batteries, valid across the entire European Union. Based on the vast number of areas covered by this legislation, the CBC members chose three areas to be covered: Ecodesign and battery performance requirements; Digital battery passport; and Recycling and liability of battery producers.
A live discussion followed the interesting and comprehensive presentation, which was recorded and is available for the CBC members.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank especially Mr. Tomáš Pešek from the CBC member organization REMA Battery, who provided this webinar for our members, and also to the legal office Kocián Šolc Balaštík, who, with using sensitive explanation and number of comparisons, confirmed that they are well-versed in such complex issues. We already plan other similar educational programs for CBC members,” emphasized Mr. Jan Vejbor, CBC Executive Manager. “REMA Battery is one of two Czech collective systems for managing waste portable batteries, and understanding the relevant EU legislation is crucial to our work.“ stated Mr. Tomáš Pešek from REMA Battery. „The issue of end-of-life products, whether electrical equipment or batteries, is one of the key areas of environmental law that we specialize in at KŠB. The principles of sustainability and the circular economy are becoming a standard part of the business activities of many of our clients and we are happy to be part of it,” added Tomáš Sequens, partner at KŠB.
